Complexation of phosphine ligands with peracetylated [beta]-cyclodextrin in supercritical carbon dioxide: Spectroscopic determination of equilibrium constants
Article Abstract:
Ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectroscopy was applied to analyze the interactions between the peracetylated [beta]-cyclodextrin ([beta]-CD) and many triphenyl phosphine derivatives in supercritical carbon dioxide. The observations show that the solvent-phobic effect of carbon dioxide during the desolvation of the guest molecule and the [beta]-CD cavity is weaker as compared to those in aqueous solution and the excellent consistency of the phosphine in the cyclodextrin cavity, resulting to improved host-guest van der Waals interactions.

Kinetics and mechanism of cyclodextrin inclusion complexation incorporating bidirectional inclusion and formation of orientational isomers
Article Abstract:
A novel parallel reaction scheme for cyclodextrin (CD) inclusion complexation, incorporating bidirectional inclusion and the formation of orientational isomers into the scheme is presented. It is shown that the thermodynamic preference of an isomer over the other is mainly due to the slow dethreading rate of isomer, thus addressing that care should be taken in interpreting the thermodynamic parameters derived from the equilibrium constants and their temperature dependence.

NMR studies on selectivity of [beta]-cyclodextrin to fluorinated/hydrogenated surfactant mixtures
Article Abstract:
The investigation of the interactions between [beta]-cyclodextrin ([beta]-CD) and the mixtures of hydrogenated and fluorinated surfactants revealed [beta]-CD to exhibit significant inclusion selectivity to fluorinated surfactant in the mixtures of hydrogenated/fluorinated surfactants.
